Where did you stay? Tell us something about the accommodation, prices, location
I was in Cyprus, living 4 to 5 KM from University of Cyprus New Campus. The street is called Pallouriotissa which is 2 KM away from the City Center (Solomos square). Accommodation was in a shared apartment . So, it cost around 200 euro including all utilities.

How much money did you need a month? How much is e.g. lunch, drink, bus ticket…? Was the grant enough? Is it an expensive country?
450 to 550 Euro per month is more than enough if you have a balanced lifestyle. Lunch cost 5 to 7 euro at the University canteen. Fresh juice cost 2 to 2.6 Euro. Grant was enough because it is not that expensive a country. The bus costs 2 Euro normal travel. at night it will be 3,5 euro. However, my suggestion is to have a Bus card which costs 20 Euro per month. For any age group we can have a student discount for this bus card.

Was it difficult to study there? Tell us about the approach of the teachers, the school environment, level of English requires, anything you think might be useful…
For the first month, I felt completely overwhelmed because Cypriots are not particularly friendly people. But as time passed, things changed; I made really nice friends who are kind and helpful. The professors are extremely nice and supportive, and they inspire me greatly. Because building names are only in Greek, it will be difficult to locate our exact faculty for the first time.
It has a sophisticated library that will make you fall in love with it. And you can do all of your schoolwork there for 24 hours, which is really convenient.

Any tips for future students concerning the choice of subjects?
Try to have at least a rough idea about the subject that they select. And never expect help from the Centre for Entrepreneurships department or career center administrative staffs.

What to see? Where to go?
It is a very small and beautiful island country which is also a touristic country. East or West, North or South you can find beautiful beaches. It has great coffee shops where you can find coffees from different nation and pastries and confectionary. It has delicious foods to explore. It is divided as North and South Cyprus. The south Cyprus is under EU and the north is under Turkish control. So, you can experience different cultures and north Cyprus is much cheaper as they use Turkish Lira as their official currency.

Did you do any sports? Are there any gyms, stadiums, or sport facilities available?
Not exactly. But the university campus has a free gym.

What should the students look forward to?
If the students want to enjoy the pleasant weather and who loves beaches, I think Cyprus is a perfect choice.

What is good to know about local habits/traditions? Did you feel safe?
Cyprus is one of the safest countries. The Cypriots need time to be friendly. They are not that open-minded.

How did you get there?
The best and cheapest option will be taking a flight from Vienna to Larnaca or Paphos. Then we can easily find the airport shuttle bus to move to the decided destination from airport.
