Research areas within Department of Industrial Engineering and Information Systems for the academic year 2015/16

  1. Making models of process parameters and methodology development for optimisation of complex systems within business processes management in global economy

Introduction: The aim of the research purpose is to formulate key parameters of business processes within selected area (industrial production, administration, public administration, health care) that are essential for improving their performance and efficiency. Subsequently, the key correlations of the key parameters stated will be looked for, which will then enable to form a flexible methodology for a continuous optimisation of a process system as a compact unit. A part of the methodology will be combination of the knowledge as well as experience obtained from various types of processes (combination of European, Japanese, US processes) in order to use the methodology for an adequate planning and scheduling of business processes.

  1. Improving the performance and productivity of business processes by using business intelligence and information technologies linked to lean business information systems

Introduction: The basis of the research purpose is a detailed analysis of the term business intelligence, a definition of field of activity as well as key parameters from the perspective of a complex performance and productivity improvement of business processes. Then, it is an identification of a process model of business intelligence, a comparative analysis of the existing information technologies and possibilities of using them in the field of a new lean business information system. The result of this is a well-developed model of business intelligence for the areas of production and administration processes within industrial company linked to a strategic and operational management of business processes as a whole.

  1. Innovation of products and processes supporting an increase in value added of business processes with the impact on a continuous improving of company competitiveness.

Introduction: The idea of the research purpose is to identify potentials of the selected business processes in connection with present knowledge and experience gained from the implementation of industrial engineering methods and tools for the reason of developing methodology focused on a continuous innovation process in the field of production and administration processes. Such innovations influence greatly even the product innovations undergoing certain production and administration processes. The aim of the research purpose is to develop methodology for reaching an optimal level of value added of business processes available.
