Academic Senate FaME

About the Academic Senate

The Academic Senate is the Faculty’s self-contained representative academic body. In this term of office, the Senate consists of twelve members, i.e. six academic workers and six students.
Student members of the Academic Senate are represented in the Study Programmes Board FaME, Scholarship Board and Advisory Committee of the Vice-Rector for Halls and Residence and Refectories Affairs in Zlin.

The main role of the Academic Senate is specified in Act No. 111/1998 Coll. The Academic Senate decides on proposal of the Dean’s appointment, or proposes his/her withdrawal.

The Academic Senate approves especially:

distribution of financial resources, and monitors their usage,
admission conditions,
proposal of an appointment of the Scientific Board members,
Faculty’s internal regulations,
long-term plan of educational and scientific, research, developmental, artistic, or other creative Faculty activities elaborated in compliance with a long-term plan of a public higher education institution, upon the discussion in the Scientific Board.
The Academic Senate also expresses its view on proposals of study programmes implemented at FaME.

The position of the Academic Senate is from this brief list evident, as well as is its responsibility to the academic community. Students have a chance to actively influence the course of events at the Faculty and to participate in decision-making about the content and form of tuition. Although unlisted in the Act, further function of the Academic Senate is to strengthen communication between academic officials and the academic community.

As the Chairperson of the Academic Senate, I am prepared to accept every suggestion and comments of academic community members, and submit them to the academic officials.
