Tomas Bata University in Zlín

A university is not just a place for education and research. One of its roles is to be actively involved in social, cultural and economic development. Our faculty proudly claims this role and strives to make an active contribution to the development of society.

What is the so-called third role of the university?

The third role of the university encompasses a wide range of activities that go beyond the traditional boundaries of academia. These include:

  • Collaboration with the community: Initiatives that link the university with local residents, organisations and businesses.
  • Socially Responsible Projects: Programmes that address real-world issues such as environmental challenges, social inequalities or support for education.
  • Volunteering and Service: Supporting the volunteer activities of our students and staff who are dedicated to helping those in need and contributing to the community.

We believe our faculty should be:

  • A responsible member of the community: Actively participate in solving societal problems and be a role model for other institutions.
  • Innovative Leader: To bring new ideas and solutions that contribute to the sustainable development of society.
  • Promoter of diversity and inclusion: To create an environment where every individual can contribute and feel a valuable and rightful member of society.
