Lecture: Porie Saikia – Leadership in Practice: What Can We Learn from Projects in New York?

How do you make decisions when managing a complex project, leading a large team, and at the same time balancing the interests of dozens of different people and organizations? And what does leadership really involve in an environment where business, the public sector, sustainability, and major change come together?

Porie Saikia will share her experience from more than 40 years of working on major projects and with leading organizations in the United States. She has served, among other roles, as Chief Architect and Senior Director for Environment, Energy & Sustainability at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York, as Business Vice President at CH2M, and as Principal for Sustainable Strategies at MACE Group Americas. She currently works as an Associate Professor at Pratt Institute in New York.

In her lecture, she will focus on real-world examples from practice – how to lead people, make decisions in challenging situations, manage change, work with stakeholders, and approach sustainability and resilience when delivering complex projects.
